METAL MIKE'S Interview with Markus 7/30/07
First of all I just want to say how cool you are for taking time to touch base with a fan such as myself. As The Montanian and I do this for the love of the music, as well as getting to meet and talk to cool people such as yourself. Thanks again!
1. First thing I got to know is. How did you come up with the name M!ss Crazy?
Umm it started out as a thing I kinda called my sister ..but it seemed to fit the band . Since we had Kim Racer it has worked out perfect. She has proven that she is MISS CRAZY.
2. As Kiss and Alice Cooper were two of my early favs as a kid I grew to love the music as well as the theatrics. What brought this aspect into your band ? and was it a forethought or an after thougt?
It was after because we were thinking of what was to be different. Everyone has no make up. We wanted it to be fun and we wanted to create a thing that people would be able to see visually at first. Then hear us and go..I like this or I hate this. Either way we have a certain wonder about us!
3. How did this band develop? I am pretty new to you guys and curious.
I was having a conversation about starting an Arena Rock type band. Kim was into it and had a really good attitude about it. She really encouraged me and challenged me to make it happen.
4. Markus how did you start singing? And what got you into music?
AC/DC! When I heard "Back In Black" that record made me want to do this. It took a bunch of years but I am here now. KISS, Def Leppard, KISS of course! All the things the older kids were into. I just loved Hard Rock!
5. When did you realize . Hey I can really do this?
I was singing in the shower. It just came out. I had to work at it. I never really thought I could do for long periods of time. Alot of people think that it might be difficult to reproduce it live. I have no problems at all so far. Touring has made me better and stronger. The people who think I can't do it fuel me to prove them wrong. I have done as of now 131 shows and I believe I will do a ton more! So bring it on!
6. who are some of your early vocal influences?
Brian Johnson, Steve Whiteman, Joe Elliott, Tom Kiefer.
Those guys made me want to do it. Bon Scott was amazing too!
7. What was the first gig you guys ever did?
It was June 24th 2006 in Sunnyvale, California. I was happy the way we played and realized it was what I really wanted to do. Live in concert is the only life for me. I wanted everyone to see that we were for real. Since then we have toured in support of our CD all across the USA.
8. What has been the biggest day of your life musically speaking?
Being in this band MISS CRAZY! Playing with Kim Racer and taking it on the road. Playing each city and showing people what we can do. Having fans that are die hards! The fans are everything to me!
9. How does a song develop in your band? From start to finish.
I sit with my guitar and a piece of paper and i let it come out. I just think of what I would want as a fan of this music. Then I just write it. I know now that I can almost do anything vocally so it's fun to challenge myself. Give myself some real cool to sing.
10. Who are you currently getting ready to tour with?
MISS CRAZY! We are just playing everywhere until we land a major tour. Hopefully one of these established bands will see that we are bring hard rock back and wanna see us succeed! Help us carry the torch and not let it go out with the older bands. Hard Rock needs to stay alive! As long as we are around it will be rolling!
11. what is the coolest Shark moment you can share with us? I am a Boston Bruin fan so my coolest moment is just being a fan as we arent too good.
The Sharks have been pretty consistant as of the last 5 years or so. I think of so many times I have been excited about games! They just need to win the cup! It is the only thing they have not done yet! I love the team right now! I am friends with a couple of the guys.
I would have been a good Hockey player!
12. I see you are a Raider fan too. What are your expectations from Jamarcus this season?
I think he will learn the teams ways and plays. Find the targets he will throw to. He has good recievers that can play. Jerry Porter, Ronald Curry, Mike Williams to name a few. They need to protect him with a good line and let him do his thing! He has alot of people really excited about him. I hope he turns out to bring us back to greatness! He has great size and ability. We picked him number 1 in the draft! He needs to play like it. I can't wait!
13. What gives you direction or focus in life?
This band and people we meet. God. I know i'm not perfect. I make mistakes and I really need to learn from them. I know I work really hard to succeed. Kim helps me realize the things that I can do better and I thank her for making me see those things.
14. How much support did you have from your family as the band developed?
They were pretty cool. We got to practice in the basement with a really cool set up. It was very nice to have such a warm surrounding. It really helped us get it together!
15. What was the first concert you ever attended?
KISS. I saw that and was set that I wasn't going to be normal after that! I think that i'm so far from normal.
16 what is the coolest concert you ever attended?
KISS
17. Who do you listen to that others might find odd that you do? I have a weakness for Madonna so shoot me LOL
.
Britney Spears, Shania Twain, Pink.
18. What is your favorite song you have written so far and why?
I don't have one. I like all of them the same. I play them all so much that it is second nature for me. Ask me that again in a year.
19. Im not being critical here im just curious. Tell me about the new release and why the remix?
Because we have been touring for a year and so many people are still waiting to see us. Our appearence has changed and we had some new stuff we wanted to give. We did not want to give up on the Cd because the songs on it were really good. We had new pictures and 6 new songs to add. We just made it better and we are still getting more known every month! It is all for the MISS CRAZY fans all over the world! We are here for them!
